Restaurants & Bars

Sunset Park Lake in the Hills IL is home to a lot of great food options. From sourdough pizza to Mexican, Yunnan, and Szechuan restaurants, the area is a true food lover’s paradise.

We love the sourdough pizza at Zach Pollack’s busy Cosa Buona, located at the corner of Sunset and Alvarado Street. It’s a hot spot most days, with hopeful lines spilling out the door on weekend evenings.

Another favorite is East Harbor Seafood Palace, where you’ll find everything from shrimp and watercress dumplings to beef ribs. They also have taro pork dumplings and an expansive dim sum menu.

You can’t miss Lake Merritt, a 3.4-mile-long body of water that is a popular recreation spot for both day and night. The sand beach has a splash pad and children’s playground, while there are rentals of canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, rowboats, and sailboats at the pier. During the day, you can go for a stroll along the shoreline or catch a game of tennis, soccer, baseball, or softball.
